Myi You can get verizon to give you the code pretty easily.
Put your sim in the phone so it pops up enter unlock code.
Find somebody thats actually on verizon, call verizon from his phone and give his information.
Tell them that you got a new phone but when you put in the sim it asks for unlock code, and give them the imei of the phone you are trying to unlock.
They will tell you different things that they want you to try to do, pretend you are following their instructions and keep telling them that its still not working.
Eventually they will give you the code.
Have done this successfully on several phones.
Slightly dishonest, but it works 😀

my kyocera was locked when i bought it, and when i called verizon customer service they told me that i have to use it for 2 months with their service and then it will automaticcly unlock, "vkach hava". (and so it was)
