Macher Anyone know how to take the screen of to change the front cover do you need to heat up the area around the screen?
Yes, you can heat it up very slowly to remove the front screen to be able to remove it(the front plastic screen), without needing to put new adhesive for the screen to stick back together, so yes you can put a little heat, but a little and not to much as you don't want to ruin the LCD.
Again you can remove the screen w/o heat as well but i cant guarantee the black stretchy adhesive will be flat and go back together perfectly, but much better chance if you use a little heat so the adhesive sticks to one side.
Then there's four tiny screws which you need to remove, and then separate the front screen(the Silver Cover with the black comes off together, there's the top hinge and then the gray cover with a little black bezel that comes off together.
If you have a front replacement you can see exactly what needs to be removed from your old device.
You do not have to remove the actual lcd and pcb board in order to change the back cover, but assuming you have a brand new cover with all the small parts, including the ribbon cable protective sticker and the little plastic light cover and vibrator on the new cover, meaning not a blank cover, then you can swap the two.
You will probably end up snapping the little clip on the black/gray cover when removing the cover, but if you have a new one there's nothing to worry.
Might sound like Chinese, then again that's why you pay to have these things serviced/fixed. As they say time is money and all the work involved.
