oh, re-read a fews posts up and you talk about probably being able to install update from recovery. But as there is no response to that post yet, I guess no one has tried it. If I can be pointed to the update file I will try it and report back.

My only other thought is to get a second phone, since it was only $20 and pull the firmware off it and put it on the unlocked phone, sort of like cloning one phone onto another. Not sure how to do that, but I'd be willing to try that if the update doesn't fix it. Then I'd have a backup phone in case I break mine, which I somehow do a lot (part of why I moved to a flip phone).

            I am having a bit of an issue. I downloaded it and it worked perfectly, but as a mistake, I set there to be a floating icon. So I tried messing with it and couldn't get it to open up voice settings. Next, I tried to delete it and reinstall it. I looked around on adb for the package name (with the "-3" filter option) and I saw two options com.android.cts.accessibility and com.google.android.apps.accessibility.voiceaccess I deleted both. After reinstalling the apk file I opened it and gave it permission, but then it didn't give me the option for voice access. I then went back to my computer and saw that only the first package was installed and not the second. Do you know why this happened and how to solve it?

                  Reifam com.android.cts.accessibility is the app i linked you to. just install voice access via ADB and you'll be fine. To open Voice Access Settings, just turn on voice access (for example, via notifications), and say "Voice Access Settings".

                    Hi, does anyone have a way to export all the contacts to VCF via ADB, i used the command below but its not in VCF format, i can technically play around with it in Notepad ++ but i wanna know forst if anyone has a quicker way

                          A) There's no such thing as quick instructions when it comes to this phone.
                          B) I don’t think it’s possible to enable APK installation without wiping the data.

                              Jumptoheaven Actually, the sspanak version does work on the TCL, albeit with a few bugs. Firstly, even when not typing a t9 word, it still takes over the "ok" button. This means that i cant click "send" directly (in messages), or "save" (in notes). Additionally, it takes over the left softkey. This means that i cant press a contact shortcut number and use the left softkey to "send message". But it does work. And it has the ability to add words to the dictionary.

                              So @sspanak and others have done a lot of work on his tt9 keyboard, and the OK to send along with many other bugs have been fixed. Also, support for Hebrew predictive texting has been added. This is a great keyboard for this phone. The latest release (v20.0) is [Login to see the link].

                                  Many thanks to everyone here who made it possible for me to have a flip phone again! I have the 4058W and use it on cricket/att. I'm a triple amputee and only have one hand with fingers so I wanted a smaller phone for pocket real estate.
                                  I did neutronscotts root and can install APKs, but mainly I wanted to keep my streaming music services. Amazon Music runs just fine on the My Flip 2.
                                  Has anyone found a better launcher experience? If I could put apps to scroll through on the home screen that would be great! Also, this gone doesn't come stock with a voice to text, so could someone suggest a voice typing that might work?
                                  I'm 50, and back in the day I could T9 text a paragraph driving in the work truck and never look at the phone. Excited to daily drive a phone that doesn't ding every 3 seconds.

                                      whynot I followed everything and got a success when sideloading through adb, however i can only open the app through typing the code, is there a way to open the app without the code?

It will launch when you press the up key from the Home Screen, or you could install it as a system app and it will show up in the regular app menu as browser or att unlock depending on which version you use.

                                                smoakeater Good luck on your flip phone journey. To see your apps you can dial *#*#217703#*#*. You can also install ListLauncher and set it as a shortcut key in settings or the launcher from [Login to see the link].

                                                        whynot As an alternative I found a really nice launcher called Niagra Launcher that works great with this. It requires some touchscreen setup so i used the scrcpy screen control command thing and set it up and im very happy with it.
