jbriones95 Interesting video. Theoretically, you are right that you got a $20 phone that's customizable, and a $350 one that isn't customizable. But the TCL Flip 2 was also locked down. We spent hours and hours debugging, working, injecting, and researching until we found a way to intercept a firmware update and patch a boot img, which still didn't work, until we utilized magisk's overlay.d to reverse a prop on boot. And even flashing the boot image was tough, [Login to see the link] tried just about every MTK Tool until he was able to boot to Fastboot using MTK Meta. The TCL Flip 2 was also non-customizable.

If we would hack the Fig Flip II, then we could also customize it. It will probably be very hard, but it may be possible.

In terms of that Helix comment about Alibaba, here are more details 🙂. [Login to see the link], and also [Login to see the link]

I am disappointed that they don't support microSD card. I would expect more for the price.

Biden2020prez I'd think that getting the FIG Flip II hacked would be way harder, but yes I am speaking of today's terms rather than in the past.

They claim that thats a kashrus issue, even though I dont think that makes any sense. The old FIG even had a Micro Sd card slot, but it was non-functional.

Flippy LOL. Maybe Tag should start ripping out the MicroSD card reader from a phone. I can't wait to see Fig make a new version of iCloud.

Gr8 idea! they have been working on this, as i was told, but it will need time.

MXRJR LOL. I was expressing my disappointment. I was saying that just like apple makes you pay for storage when you run out, Fig could do the same thing, claiming "MicroSD cards aren't kosher". I honestly love some of the features, and would likely buy it and use it as a personal phone if I was rich, but a phone too proprietary and locked down from basic functions isn't for me.

Or maybe if I want more storage I can take out the EMMC memory chip, and solder on a newer one with bigger storage.

Biden2020prez I wonder why he can't make two versions, and it should be visible from the outside which one it is.
