CallMeACynic And yes, I did end up getting my phone tagged

Good for you!

CallMeACynic Second of all, while I'm sure the people from apps4flip have noble intentions

Okay, I'm still not sure what you want specifically from [Login to see the link]

CallMeACynic I don't think that anybody should take their own initiative in these areas, without consulting rabbonim.

Like [Login to see the link] said, who said they didn't consult their Rabbeim?

Trying to use your app tp remove the browser from my LG phone, it doesnt work for me.

I get the following, but it doesnt remove anything. The debugging is set to 'on' and the device is attached to my computer with 'USB File' transfer selected.

'Type the number of what you want to remove, and press enter. If you don't want to remove any more apps, type [D]: 1

    Please Confirm!

Are you sure you want to uninstall the browser [Y/N]: Y
    adb.exe: no devices/emulators found

    DONE
Press any key to continue . . .'

    Can you help me?

malki2003 Yes, select charging (not file transfer). And make sure you enabled USB Debugging inside developer options

Biden2020prez So how are you calling this a filter? It is misleading...I think you should add in the header "Does Not Block Factory Reset"

chaimzalman I think you asked this already [Login to see the link] 🙂 .

Let me tell you like this: Tag removed my filter without me needing to lose all my data. So you are free to remove this and lose all your data. For myself and many others, that is a big deterrent.

It still "filters" the bad apps off your phone.

If you can't control your Taivah to reset the phone and/or resetting is not inconvenient for you, then feel free to get a filter elsewhere, I am not stopping you.

Even chatgpt agrees: [Login to see the link]

Biden2020prez I am not arguing with you regarding the deterrent aspect, but it is terribly misleading to call it a filter if factory reset is not blocked. I am not saying your filter is wrong but you really need to be clear in the description what it does and doesn't do.

chaimzalman I think it is pretty clear. I am not sure if you've used it before, but in the part of the program that uninstalls apps, there are 7 options:

              1. Remove Browser (Highly Recommended!!!)
              2. Remove e-mail
              3. Remove Hotspot
              4. Remove FM Radio
              5. Remove Video
              6. Remove Text Messages
                D. All Done, I don't want to remove any more apps.

It does not mention anything about preventing a factory reset, and if someone assumes it blocks factory reset, then it's his fault for assuming that it does something it doesn't claim to do. In fact, if the tool did do things that I never documented, like install a remote access trojan, or block factory reset, that would

              chaimzalman terribly misleading

              and unethical.

Additionally, this was what I wrote in my very first post about this tool:

Biden2020prez It opens a batch file to help the user setup his phone on ADB (ADB is built-in to the application), and when the phone is connected, it opens a new batch file where the user can choose what he would like to remove from his phone.

Additionally, if someone reads through this thread, it will be very apparent what this tool does. I'm not sure why you bundle filter with blocking factory reset. Of course, that can be included in a filter, but that doesn't mean everything else is not a filter. Would you like me to add an option to uninstall settings just so I can call it a filter? Well, I don't plan on doing that anytime soon. Although I do plan or releasing the source code in case anyone wants to make their own fork, including a fork that merely changes the title from "filter" to something else.

You are welcome to call this tool anything you want. Not a problem. You can even put big warnings in this thread. But I don't have in my plans to put a big header that this "Doesn't block factory reset". In the meantime, you can bother [Login to see the link] that his Kosher Rom for the TCL Flip 2 does not block factory reset. And bother Tag that many of their filters don't block factory reset (I know, there is a difference between when the filter is removed with a factory reset and when it is not - my point is that you have the wrong definition of filter).

Biden2020prez It is essential to consider the potential consequences for users who may not have a strong technical understanding and rely on labels such as "filter" to make decisions about which tools to use. Blocking factory reset is an important aspect of a filter because it can prevent someone from easily bypassing the filter's restrictions and accessing content or settings that have been blocked. This can be especially important for parents who want to protect their children from inappropriate content or prevent them from making unauthorized changes to their device. Furthermore, it is worth noting that TAG DOES make sure to block factory reset on their basic flip phones.
In conclusion, while the definition of a filter may vary depending on the individual's perspective, blocking factory reset is an important aspect of a filter. It is essential to communicate this information clearly to users, especially those who may not have a strong technical background (biggest proof is you are calling it a filter for dummies)
Furthermore, [Login to see the link] filter is not perfect but it is much better as there is no easy way to remove the restrictions from the device itself even with factory reset.

chaimzalman If you dont like the filter dont use stop putting down [Login to see the link] hard work. He put time and effort into making this program and he is not charging any money if you dont like the filter dont use it its up to you to use it nobody is forcing you to use it.
