• Issues with the Unlocked LG Wine2, Not working properly on T-Mobile?

  • MMyiLevel 3 - Gold Member

When I'm in Global it automatically selects the 4G LTE option and calling is delayed 10 Seconds and when someone tries calling me they need to wait the same 10 seconds before they hear a dial tone.

I've never needed to call T-Mobile in the past to register the device with my account, so don't think that should be the issue, but have no problem running it by them to see if they can assist. Or if it would help if it's registered on the network with them.
I'm thinking it's something to do with LG as the UN220 is giving me issues as well.

Myi did you check which physical 4g bands the wine has and what 4g bands T-Mobile uses?

Myi its nothing about LG its about t-mobile as I posted here mg5077

Techgen Did not, but can check now that you pointed that out.

Weird that everyone on eBay sells them staying avlb for use on TMobile, Gsm Unlocked.

              mg5077 Yes I saw that.
If what your saying is true. If I manage to have service for a year with tracfone on the classic I won't work for me on TMobile after I request the unlock?

by me the calls are delayed but other than that everything else works

Yms Indeed that's my only issue.
It's not just outbound calls, it's the same by the incoming and outgoing.
If someone wants to call me, after not hearing a ring tone for 5-10 seconds he hangs up.
                      Not really Ganna work.

Myi So then why don't you just buy the Alcatel by T-Mobile.

Techgen Device supports only LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, 12, and 25. Device can use LTE Band 4 for Canada LTE roaming.

Yms Have two of those, and i will say they are trash, slow like a turtle, horrific hardware on that phone. Phone crashes and turns off.
trying to see what other options i have, alcatel is not on my list.

                                I have the..
                                VN220
                                UN220
                                Kyocera Cadance
                                LG Classic flip
                                LG Wine 2 Unlocked Version

None of those seem to work for tmobile.
Seems i might have to try the Shock or something similar.

Just curios what service was the UN220 Made for?

Myi The Schok isn't either branded for T-Mobile.
You're not going to get the best of both worlds

Does the unlocked one work for verizon?

yteps Don't have a Verizon Sim handy at the moment so will have to wait till next week if you want me to try on my end. Unless someone here has an Unlocked version to try.

                                        • MMyiLevel 3 - Gold Member

yteps Tried it with a Tracfone sim on Verizon. Works for calling and texting.
But picture messages does not work. Though with tracfone you need to call to register the IMEI on the network for things to work properly.

Myi did you try changing the apn settings, depending on the carrier?

Jumptoheaven The APN settings seem to be set correctly, I did check each time to make sure it had the correct APN settings and reset the settings to double check that.

Techgen Jumptoheaven Interesting enough , if what they're telling me(T-Mobile Tech Support) is true then that would explain to why there's a 10 second delay for outgoing and incoming calls when using a T-Mobile Sim card on this LG Exalt UN220, and the LG Wine2 Unlocked Version.

They previously had one band in common on the 4g lte network with this phone, for the calling and it was the U1900 which basically allowed for the, 4G LTE band to work.
While they still have a 2g band which they still support for calling and that would explain why when making a call on the 4g network it takes a few seconds before the call can go out , as it needs to find a 2g band to make the call, and the same is true when it receives a call needing to find a 2g band for the incoming call.
While I tested it solely on the 2g band and the calling works great, as it's not switching before any of the calls, as it's currently the only working band on that device for T-Mobile.
They mentioned since the new 5g is out they're phasing away the old U1900 Band.
Now I got to try it on a At&t sim to see if it works.
Oh well that takes care of the LG Exalt UN220, And the LG Wine 2.
Never understood the reason to phase a band away, unless it's costing them to run it, and there's no use for it, or most Customers don't use that band anymore?

mg5077 The AN and UN seems to be the same.
While the UN220 is an unlocked GSM device so it should techinally work.
And I see it has two of the bands that T-Mobile Supports.
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz; LTE Bands 2/4/5/12/25

So even should they stop supporting the U1900 there's the 850, Band 5
