  • Myi I did end up figuring it out eventually. For the benefit of those who may need these instructions in the future, I'll go thru the steps here:

    1. Order new frame [Login to see the link]
    2. Pry off display lens, after carefully using blow dryer or heat gun to loosen adhesive. Insert a plastic card or tool from the side and slowly work your way around until the lens is removed.
    3. Remove the four screws that hold the back part of the frame, and then carefully separate it. Examine the new frame as a guide to see where the back part is attached.
    4. Disconnect the ribbon from the PCB, then unscrew and remove the PCB
    5. Carefully pry off the ear speaker from the frame. There is a microfiber screen that may also need to be pulled out and reattached to the speaker.
    6. On the new frame, pull off the blue plastic from the adhesive surrounding the speaker hole, and press the speaker into place, oriented as it was before.
    7. Install the PCB into the new frame
    8. Thread the ribbon thru the notch in the new frame, and press the frame into place. This is probably the hardest step, as it's a very tight fit.
    9. With the phone open and face down, look for a gap in the back of the hinge, where there is a small metal hinge mechanism. Use a small screwdriver to slide the mechanism into the corresponding hole in the lower frame hinge. The phone must be in the open position in order for the hole to be aligned properly.
    10. Attach ribbon, and reinstall back cover and lens.
    • Myi You don't need 60 consecutive days of service to be eligible for unlocking (you don't even need to be active for 60 days at all). As for continuing to use phone A after transferring your plan to phone B, I'm pretty sure you can put SIM B in phone A After you activate it in phone B (if you don't activate it specifically in phone B it won't be considered activated even if SIM B is)

      • kolelguy Well, glad you got it working. The hidden menu method fix I suggested may only apply if the account/SIM/device doesn't already have CDMA-less provisioning properly enabled. So indeed the rep could have fixed it as well.

Furthermore, for anyone else having signal and/or MMS/SMS issues on a Verizon MVNO, I just stumbled on something potentially useful. Not too long ago, I used to be able to choose between 3G and 3G/4G auto via the normal settings menu (however, forcing 4G/LTE only was never an option here). Anyway, this "System Select" menu option now seems to be missing for me, even after a factory reset. I'm guessing my account/SIM was automatically updated at some point not long ago for CDMA-less provisioning, either that or the phone finally recognized the change, after a recent factory reset, hence the now missing setting.

This may be a good way to check whether an account/SIM has CDMA-less provisioning working under a Verizon MVNO with this phone. So to walk through. Under "Settings > Wireless & networks > Cellular networks" if you see don't see "System Select" you probably have CDMA-less provisioning already. However, if you do see "System Select" you probably need to contact your provider and have them enable CDMA-less provisioning. If this fails, you can of course try the hidden menu method I previously suggested.

Regardless, personally, even with my account now seemly having CDMA-less provisioning. I'm going to leave it set to "LTE" in the hidden menu anyway, just to be safe.

Lastly, I'm guessing the hidden menu fix/workaround may also apply to other providers with defunct 2G/3G (GSM/UMTS/HSPA) networks as well, assuming the phone is still trying to connect to those defunct networks, instead of just LTE. Not sure if a similar GSM and/or UMTS-less type provisioning is available with "GSM" providers.

whynot Thanks for the tip, fixed.

        • If somebody is just stumbling across this post now, if you want to go to the home screen while you're in middle of a call, here's what to do:

On any phone you can use the trick on bottom of [Login to see the link]. (It's not just specific to LG phones)

On the LG classic or Exalt: Kosher24 (Link to the app to install) 12345 (How to use the app)
On the TCL Flip 2 or the Alcatel Go Flip V: Biden2020prez
On a Schok or Kyocera Phone: Just press options > Go to idle screen
On a Sonim Phone: Just press back

Please correct me if I'm missing anything here.

          • CallMeACynic Not the phones he posted. He posted the Schok Classic Flip which factory reset can be blocked from the lock control app, and Sonim XP5 which [Login to see the link] put out a kosher rom for. It can be factory reset, but will still be kosher.

            • I was reading through the SCRCPY documentation today, and learned many cool things. I thought it might be helpful to make a guide for everyone in case others are interested.

              Lets get started.

              Prerequisites:

              • This guide is made using a windows computer. This will work on Linux and Mac but you'll need to Download the correct version of SCRCPY and any other OS may have other Prerequisites.
              • Android phone with API 21 or above (android 5 or above), with USB Debugging enabled
              • SCRCPY for Windows [Login to see the link] - - - [Login to see the link] (If you're not sure, you can try both 🙂)

              Connect a Device
Make sure all prerequisites are met, then plug your phone into the computer. Extract the Scrcpy Zip. Navigate to the extracted directory and open the scrcpy.exe file. It should open a application that shows your phone's screen. You can control it with your mouse and keyboard.

Not working? In the Scrcpy Directory, open the open_a_terminal_here.bat file, and type Scrcpy into the command prompt. Either it will work and allow you to control the phone, or it will fail and give an error message. Now you try to debug the issue.

              Connect Wirelessly
You can connect to a device wirelessly using SCRCPY. On android 11+, you can do this without a computer, but on A10 and lower, you need to use first connect with a USB cable. In either case you can only remotely control your phone if both devices are connected to the same WiFi.

              • Android 10 and lower:
Connect your phone to USB debugging, open the open_a_terminal_here.bat file, and run the command scrcpy --tcpip. Now a screen should open up where you can control your phone. Now uplug your phone, and continue controlling it! Isn't it cool? To stop the connection, just press ctrl + c in the console (cmd prompt). To restart it (without reconnecting your phone), just run scrcpy. To fully disconnect, run adb kill-server. Note: After you turn off the phone, you will need to connect to a computer again to get a wireless connection.

              • Android 11+ (two options)
-1. Use the method for older phones. (It can be easier sometimes).
-2. Go to settings > About phone: and somewhere here you will find your IP address. look for the 192.168.....
Then run scrcpy --tcpip={ip.add.ress}. Replace it with your actual IP.
                Example: scrcpy --tcpip=192.168.1.1

              Screen Recording
Scrcpy has an amazing feature to record your screen from your computer. just run scrcpy --record=file.mp4. Replace file.mp4 with the filename that you want. Stop the recording by pressing ctrl + c in the console.

OTG Mode / No video Codecs!
This is something I was excited to figure out. I saw this on Apps4Flip odds N' Ends page, and didn't think much about it:

Please note 4G flip phones which do not contain video codecs such as the Kyocera Cadance will not work with SCRCPY.

But I recently got A Schok Classic Flip which has no video Codecs. And... I couldn't SCRCPY it. So I used [Login to see the link]. Great job [Login to see the link] on this tool, but... It's relatively slow on updating the screen, which makes it tough to use. Luckily, I had a bluetooth mouse which I connected to my phone and it solved the problem. But if you don't have one? Use SCRCPY. Enough with the introduction...

To put a mouse on your screen with SCRCPY, just run scrcpy --otg. (If SCRCPY hijacked your computers mouse, press alt. You'll know what I mean once you try.). This doesn't mirror your phones screen to the computer, but does put a mouse on your phone which you can control with your computer's mouse.

              Install APK
To install an APK, just drag the file to SCRCPY while it's open. One member told me he uses it sometimes to install 10 APK's at once by dragging them all to SCRCPY.

              Push Files
To transfer (a) file(s) from your PC to your phone, just drag the file(s) to the SCRCPY screen. It will send them to the Downloads folder.

              Clipboard Synchronization
When you copy on your computer using ctrl + c it copies to the phones keyboard. And vice versa.

              Scrcpying the outer screen!!!
This is absolutely useless, but... Scrcpy can also mirror the outer screen of your phone. Usually the command for this is scrcpy --display=1. But if you are not sure run scrcpy --display=4334 and it will tell you what your options are.

Everything in this guide is taken from the Scrcpy official [Login to see the link]. There are many things not included in this guide. some examples include: keeping phone screen off but Scrcpy on, making Scrcpy always on top on you computer, open Scrcpy automatically when phone is connected, read only mode, only keyboard or mouse but not both, lock orientation, and much more. I tried to select some of the useful and exciting few. If there is enough interest I may update this guide.

              • i wrote the command with the word ignore in caps even though it doesnt have to be so maybe thats the issue otherwise just ignore it and restart your phone and see what happens

MXRJR You can set the voice access button using voice access settings itself, just turn on voice access and say "voice access settings". Make sure to exit the button setting window by saying the number on the screen, after pressing the button to set it.

                    • You can try the app I posted here [Login to see the link]
Although I can't change the backup location to the sd card, or to upload to google drive on my LG classic, you may be able to. Otherwise once you back it up you can copy and paste the file to your sd card or upload the file manually.

                      • As is well known, some Classic flips will delete all text messages at random times. To avoid this happening again, I am trying to get an app to backup my texts. I have tried many apps and the only one that I got to work, is "All Backup and Restore".
                        But it has several issues.
                        1) It doesn't backup MMS
                        2) If I try to change backup location to SD Card, it gives me an error that I have to change the permission.
                        3) If I try to backup to G Drive it crashes.
                        4) it doesn't have a setting to erase old backups automatically.
Can anyone recommend a better backup app that works well on the LG Classic?
                        Thanks

                        • Random Your suggestions saved me $15. Thank you. I just went to Dollar Tree and bought Super Glue GEL and that did the trick for me. I'm back to the L125DL, thanks!

                            • This might only happen to people who travel through various climates, but I had my keypad start popping up and now it's like a bubble once the MSM8909 warms the underside of the board. It's due to expansion and contraction, but now I need to get a donor L125DL's bottom half before I can pick up where I left off. I'll be back, but right now I'm in a tight spot and it will be at least January before I can get a new keypad membrane or another L125DL...

I've traveled from US, to Indonesia, to Japan, and to various parts of those countries. My phone has seen so many climates and has quite the story to tell but I don't want a $15 part to be the reason that I can't keep using it.

                              • Myi thanks what do you use to heat it up ?
