  • Instructions for installing a kosher ROM on TCL Flip2/Classic T408DL

Reboot Fastboot Mode isn't working for me.
I can't get past "Waiting for mtk usb device... " in the MTK Meta Utility. It ends up at "device not found!"
I enabled usb debugging successfully, I tried with USB storage enabled and disabled.
When I start up the phone, MTK Meta Utility status bar at the bottom says usb device inserted(\?\USB#[VID]&[PID]#00018d

But then it just times out after 1:20.

darth Thank you so much!! I used the Talk only Rom. First I downloaded ADB (I used this tutorial [Login to see the link]), then I followed the instructions. Worked perfectly.

I used Biden2020prez for MTK Drivers.

darth I want to block camera, music, and recorder. Can I remove it through ADB?

darth Can you have a choice of Hotspot/no hotspot?
Also will you be able to update the solution so that it will be quicker to flash instead if 45 min?
Thanks so much for a great job!

[Login to see the link] Can we get a kosher version that includes talk and text and the apps from apps4flip but without the browser?

Apps4Flip-Admin Nice! In the 'Setup' section, I would mention that it is recommended to first update the phone to the latest software version.

Would the filter work on the T-Mobile version?

I just realized that the phone that I have (Alcatel MyFlip 2 A406DL) is not exactly the same as the TCL Flip2/Classic T408DL.
My phone is running KaiOS 2.5.4.
Would installing a kosher ROM using the above instructions work on this phone?

ru4real No. None of the steps will work. The software is not compatible at all.

Are you able to change from one ROM to the next?

I'm trying to flash the super.bin rom right now and when it reached 7/12 it stopped and it says writing super for a very long time and on the phone it popped up OK. Any suggestions?

Hi1 As it says in the instructions it takes 35-40 minutes, usually it takes very quick to get to 7/12, from that point on it takes a while

Apps4Flip-Admin I added more Roms with apps. Feel free to update main site. Also I dont think there is any mention of fastboot drivers in your guide.
A couple points: Zipped with the Roms is a boot.img which contains the mouse binaries, based off of [Login to see the link] mousev1 binary. Which has the favorites key activate and disable the mouse. I also disabled the messages button so it can be used to activate voice access.
Again if anyone has any questions or ideas or their own Roms please share!

                            Hi1 Because you flashed a new boot.img

Is there a ROM that I can flash and I will be able to install regular APK apps?

Hi1 ZTEGuy Hi1 I did remove the ability to install apps even if you flashed [Login to see the link] boot.img on my new Roms that have apps, I also updated my older Roms to block app installation even with the neutron.img. If when the phone is turning on it says Version 1.1 then app installation is blocked. (If it says 1.0 then the workaround you found will work)
